Patterns

If you want a really unique and maximalist look, you can match your headboard pattern to your wallpaper, or go one step further and clash it. Or, for a more pared back look but still striking, go for a bold pattern on the headboard with a complementary colour on the wall behind.

Padded

The ultimate luxury and often seen in hotel rooms; the padded headboard. Perfect for reading in bed whilst also giving some extra texture and softness to a room.

Slat panel

Adding a slat panel wall behind the bed is an easy way to DIY an eye catching headboard. If you ceilings are tall or the wall isn’t very long, try laying the slats horizontally rather than vertically to balance it out.

Shelves

Perfect for narrow rooms where there might not be space for 2 beside tables, borrow a bit of space behind the bed and build out a small shelf. Add hanging or wall lights and you’ve got a stylish headboard for a small space.
