Christmas table decor ideas

In the run up to Christmas, the last thing you might be thinking of is decorating your table. However, if you do feel like sprucing up your Christmas table, here’s a few ideas.

Kitsch accessories

I am definitely one of those people who loves a kitsch Christmas; and why not bring some of that kitsch-ness to the table? Grab your bits of Christmas decor from elsewhere in the house; nutcrackers, trees, figurines, and add them to the table for a bit of festive fun.

A table runner

Sometimes, keeping it simple is best and a pretty table runner is all you need. Layer it over a tablecloth or directly on the table, add some greenery, and voila.

Baubles

Baubles don’t just have to go on the tree! This is a really easy way to add a bit of interest to your table, because chances are you already have some baubles in the house. Save a few and then add them to the table; either on plates as name tags or scattered among the center.

Lights

What is Christmas without some fairylights and candles? Go for a cosy vibe and light some pillar or tapered candles - bonus if they’re on a Christmassy candlestick. Or - save some fairylights and wrap them around the center.

Hanging displays

This is probably the idea that requires the most effort but is definitely a showstopper. Hang a branch from the ceiling and display baubles, lights and other decor on it for a dramatic centrepiece, or use a table stand like this one below.

Greenery

Bringing some festive foliage to the table is a lovely and simple way to add a bit of interest from the table. Arrange it down the center of the table and add sprigs to each plate.

Christmas tableware

I love the nostalgia of having special kitchenware that comes out every year just for Christmas (serving bowls, mugs, teapots, plates…) - and bonus points if it’s beautiful and adds some style to the table.

Chair decor

Finally, don’t forget the chairs! Add a little extra pizazz by tying little wreaths to the back of each chair, or using some fabric to tie a bow.
