Creative ways to use wallpaper

If you’re craving a bit of pattern but don’t have the appetite to wallpaper an entire room, here are some other creative ways you can use wallpaper in your decorating.

Inside alcoves

I really like the idea of adding some interest to the back of an alcove with wallpaper. If you’ve got a lot of ‘stuff’ on your alcove shelves, then a more simple wallpaper pattern would be best, or otherwise go more minimal with your shelf decor and let the wallpaper do the talking.

Peekaboo drawers

If you don’t want pattern on display all the time, this is a sweet idea to add a bit of surprise when you open up the drawers of a dresser.

Framed as artwork

I love the idea of taking a fabulous bit of wallpaper and framing it to use as art - this is a budget friendly way to make a big and impactful statement on a wall. Alternatively if you have wall mouldings, wallpapering inside them is another way to bring some framed pattern to the wall.

On the ceiling

If you’re feeling brave enough, wallpapering the ceiling is a unique way of bringing some interest to the fifth wall. Keeping everything else relatively neutral (unless maximalism is your thing) will stop this from feeling overwhelming.

Furniture upgrades

If you’re feeling creative, wallpaper + boring furniture = a fun, colourful or interesting statement. Adding new handles which tie in with the wallpaper is a sweet way of finishing off an upgraded piece of furniture.

Wardrobe doors

Wardrobe doors can take up a large part of the wall area in a bedroom, and can often feel a bit bland. If you want to introduce some pattern, wallpapering the doors can help to disguise them whilst also bringing some fun.

Inside wardrobes

If you don’t necessarily want to have pattern on display all the time, a fun way of adding some surprise is by wallpapering the back of a wardrobe. You can go as wild as you want as it won’t be on show all the time, just peeking at you whenever you get your clothes.

Inside cupboards

And finally… we’ve all seen wallpapered downstairs loos, so why not wallpaper your small storage cupboards too?
