5 colour schemes for your living room

This week I’ve had a lot of fun putting together some living room colour schemes. Deciding on a colour scheme of about 3 colours; one main and 2 accent, can be be really helpful when you’re starting to decorate a room.

That’s not to say you need to strictly stick to only those 3 colours (in fact doing this might creep into overly formal hotel-like territory) but being guided by a colour scheme can really help create a cohesive and considered room.

So, to help inspire you, I’ve put together 5 colour schemes for your living room. Enjoy.

1. Greige, navy and tan

  • Accents: navy, leather and red

Greige: sounds a bit unappealing by name but actually can look really lovely. Especially when pared with deep navy to add some depth, and then tans and reds to bring some warmth.

2. Navy, taupe and burgundy

  • Walls: Farrow & Ball Hague Blue

  • Accents: taupe, navy, burgundy and red

Hague Blue is one of Farrow & Ball’s most popular colours and it invokes a sense of calm and comfort. It looks great paired with a lovely browny grey taupe, and some depth through pops of red.

3. Light grey, grey black and mustard

  • Walls: Lick Grey 01

  • Accents: mustard, grey and monochrome pattern

Forget marigold, mustard and bright sunshine yellow are guaranteed to make you feel uplifted every time you see it. It looks great against monochrome patterns and art, and a light grey wall.

4. Navy, burgundy and grey

  • Accents: navy, cream and burgundy

Navy and burgundy go together so well to create a sophisticated, calming and cosy feel all in one. Burgundy brings the warmth and navy brings the depth against a light grey backdrop.

5. Green, pink and blue

  • Accents: pink, blue and cream

By far my favourite colour to decorate with, this gorgeous green would look good with so many colours, but the pale pink and blue here is so sophisticated and calming.
